AAL (master card for recording/checking orders):
this is created for orders from trade and industry; used to record order and processing data.
Controlled language:
language with a limited vocabulary and restrictive formulation rules. Controlled languages are used, among others, in technical documentation to simplify comprehension of texts for users or non-native speakers, e.g. in aviation, and to enable the use of automatic translating systems)
Competence:
verified ability to realise vocational knowledge and skills
Deadline control:
daily control of the due date for orders through our own program
Document:
text or text file
Galley proofreading:
checking the galley proofs
Glossaries/terminology collections:
documents made available by the customer, or by the company, to support the use of a specific terminology required by the customer
Interpreting:
translating a spoken or written text orally into the target language
Locale:
a linguistic, cultural and geographical convention covering a defined target group
Order specification:
document containing all content-wise and formal requirements for
the service that is to be provided. Under the company's specification,
the customer stipulates the requirements for the translation. The job
specification is the binding specification for the company.
Parallel texts:
texts in the source or target language that are comparable to the target language with regard to the field (these include earlier translations of the same text type as well)

Proofreading:
checking a translation for any errors to determine its fitness for purpose followed by suggestions for necessary corrective measures

Source language:
the language in which the source text is written
Source text:
the text to be translated
Specimen text:
translations that have already been done for a specific customer and are related factually and terminologically to the current text. They have the typical features of the fields of the current translation jobs for the customer concerned, such as terminology, special criteria for performance, etc.
Subcontractors:
freelance translators or translation agencies that are in a contractual relationship with the company
Target language:
language in which the translation is written
Target text:
text of the translation
Technical test:
a technical test of the text in the target language to evaluate the accessibility and comprehensibility of the translation from a technical aspect.
Text function:
purpose that a text fulfils in transmitting information
Text type conventions:
the rules of grammar and the terminology that are relevant for the text type concerned
Training:
a) for internal employees:
all measures for ensuring the qualifications required for realising the specially assigned tasks; all measures for acquiring and updating the skills that are necessary in connection with the introduction, realisation and maintenance of the quality management system
b) for subcontractors:
all measures for ensuring the quality-based performance of tasks for our company; and all measures for acquiring and updating the skills that are necessary in connection with the introduction, realisation and maintenance of the quality management system
Translating:
translating is the written translation of a work into another language.
Translation services provider:
single translator or company that provides translation services
Value-added services:
these are services that a translation may require in addition, such as e.g. certification, transcription, transliteration, etc.
